Summer Fashion Trends 2024

The summer is finally here, and we are looking forwards to the fashion industry as what it has to hold for us to rock summer 2024. But before indulging in the fashion parade, let’s first acknowledge all the circumstances around which the designers have presented their collection.

With the ongoing pandemic, banned deliveries, divided teams, and logistical challenges, getting through all this must have been an overwhelming experience. But the hardship didn’t end here, and they have to present their summer 2024 collection in a very cautious environment with live streaming and limited audiences to ensure social distancing.

Dressing up has a great impact on our mood, so designers focus on reflecting the wide mood shifts in their collections this year.

So, even though we are still planning what we will do in summer 2024, we have enlisted some of the summer fashion trends of 2024 that could find a place in your wardrobe. So, keep on scrolling to unveil the top summer trends of 2024.

Beachy Days

In the hope of better days, most designers choose “escapism” as their summer dressing motto. You might witness beach prints, platform espadrilles, and beach bags all in the summer trend of 2024. None other than Versace has introduced fabulous Hawaiian shirts and starfish emblazoned on the dresses. Also, according to the Trunk show data of Moda Operandi, there is a rise in the sale of poolside or beachy attire.Sheerness

You can witness a clear call for black dresses with body-con, racy cut-outs, and slinky silhouettes. Designers like Victoria Beckham and Khaite played with strappy details, beautiful cut-outs around the neckline on a light fabrication.

Popping pinks

Another attempt to adopt optimism can be seen in the bright and bold colors, especially pinks. You can witness various textures and shades of pink in the latest fashion shows. There was an explosion of hot pink, fuchsias, and watermelon pink across multiple designers. Remember the gorgeous dresses from the London Fashion Week, including Molly Goddard’s strapless dress and Roksanda’s Flowing maxi.

Happy prints

Designers continued playing with colorful stripes even in 2024. The enchanting rainbow strips were the prominent factor in the latest fashion week, where Gabriella Hearst, Versace, and Christopher John Rogers play with mood-boosting stripes and swirly prints. Also, we have witnessed that tie-dye isn’t a lockdown hobby anymore.

Back to basics

Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Celine, and Burberry all have focused on the basics this year. We have seen some mind-blowing wardrobe foundations, including trench coats, button-downs, and heritage blazers.

All of these classics were given an exciting twist to make them contemporary and happening. From the exaggerated trench coats by Burberry to Valentino’s oversized bubblegum pink shirt, we have some of the classic chic pieces to bless your wardrobe.

Loose denim

The current pandemic has affected the fashion industry severely as everyone is spending their time during the lockdown in loungewear or casual wear. So, there was an apparent rise in the deni demand, and it was one of the primes focuses for the designers this year.

Even Victoria Beckham has introduced denim in her 2024 summer collection for the first time. Another trend we are following from the London Fashion week: the shift was made from more fitted silhouettes to a much slouchy and relaxed fit.

Monochromes steal the spotlight

The color palette of 2024 shows two extremities; some designers choose to pop, bold and bright hues while others decide to stay with the monochrome scheme. According to the Buying Director of Matchesfashion, Natalie Kingham, monochrome never fails. You can match almost anything with black and white, and it seems like a good investment for your wardrobe. Also, monochromes tend to highlight statement jewelry which is another plus for buying monochrome classics. In summer trend 2021, Prada steals the show with white trousers pairing with a logo tank top and a pair of black loafers.

Layering

We have seen some impactful layering in 2024, with some muted colors and a clean line. Designers got the influence from the 90s minimalism theme and incorporated it in2021. Have a look at white tunics layered over pitch-black trousers by Jil Sander and Wales Bonner. Another fantastic collection showing beautiful layering was from Prada. The brand chooses tunics and anoraks layered over trousers.

Relaxed workwear

Most people are still working from home with the ongoing pandemic, so workwear has become a significant part of a collection from many designers. We have witnessed some highly functional yet relaxed and slouchy cuts that are convenient to mix and match separates. According to Moda Operandi, “our top-selling trousers and pants for 2024 matched the comfortable and casual wide-leg style, which remind us once again that style and comfort are not mutually exclusive.”

Classic netting

From Prada to Burberry, fashion experts tried netting and holes in their 2024 collection. You can witness the jumpers and second-skin tops from Parada with holes all over them. At the same time, Burberry offered beautiful trenches with netted overlay.

 Raised hemlines

This season rising hemlines, body-cons, and cut-outs have made a remarkable comeback. Designers from Louis Vuitton, Mui Mui, and Jacquemus have introduced miniskirts in the collection, including the mini-slip dresses and 60’s inspired micro skirts.

Sheerness

Various designers introduce sheerness in their collection with light, floating sheer fabrics to match the season’s demand. Designed using a soft color palette, designers Jil Sanders and Acne made unique and enchanting sheer outfits with beautiful layering.

Bralette

Compared to the previous 3% this season, designers feature bralettes in 10% of the Trunk shows. You can follow the trend with straps and a visible bra with some statement layering.

Practical and functional Totes

Although we live through a time where most of us do not need a handbag, we have still witnessed a spike in demand. The year 2024 has introduced some fantastic designs for chuck-everything-into-it totes. You can notice them at Celine with Logo emblazoned bags or at Altuzarra with luxurious beach bags.
